Creating a Credit Note

To create a credit note for a patient:

  1. Open the Patient Record
  2. Click on the Accounts tab
  3. Click the New Credit Note button

When the New Credit Note page opens:

  1. Enter a note that describes the reason for the credit note.
  2. Enter the the amount to be credited.
  3. Choose the Invoice that is to be credited. This will assign the credit note to the same Medical Centre and Account as the Invoice.
  4. If you have VAT/GST enabled, you'll also be asked to enter the tax rate to be applied.
  5. Credit Note Allocation: Refund v's Credit on Account
    1. - If this is refund then check the 'Check if this is a refund' checkbox and optionally enter a note that will be saved on the Sales Ledger e.g. refunded to Credit Card.
    2. - If the credit note is to be held on account for allocation against later transactions ignore the checkbox
  6. Press Save.

You can now choose email and/or print the credit note.

NB: Marking the Credit Note as a refund updates the Sales Ledger with a balancing entry showing that a credit was raised and then discharged
